Congratulations to Flame alumnus and home town athlete Brad Hunt on his retirement from professional hockey.
Brad’s journey started with Minor Hockey in RMMHA before he graduated to join our organization at a 17-year old during the 2005/06 season. That year he won our Rookie of the Year award and joined the RBC Cup winners, Burnaby Express as an AP.
He had a 4 year NCAA career with Bemidji State University which included a trip to The Frozen Four in 2009.
Post NCAA he signed in the AHL with the Chicago Wolves and quickly made his NHL debut in the 2013/14 season with the Edmonton Oilers. Over his career he would play for the following NHL teams: Edmonton, St. Louis, Nashville, Vegas, Minnesota, Vancouver, and Colorado. He was with both Nashville (2017) and Vegas (2018) on their playoff runs that resulted in Stanley Cup Final appearances. In 2023 he was part of Team Canada’s Gold Medal win at the IIHF World Championship.
Brad played in 288 NHL games over the span of 10 years and collected 26 goals and 60 assists for 86pts. Additionally he played 422 AHL games over the span of 9 years and collected 84 goals and 214 assists for 298pts.
This past spring he returned to The Cam, in his original Flames jersey, with his family and did a ceremonial pre-game puck drop in the Final against Langley.
